For all of the miraculous advances of modern medicine, huge healthcare challenges remain, especially in the developing world. “Modern medicine has changed the world, but it has not solved the access issue,” Sandoz’ global head and chief executive, Richard Francis, told delegates to a recent FT Global Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Conference. “More than two billion people around the world do not have access to the medicines they need.”
